Danka van Dodewaard
Is a dedicated professional with over two decades of experience in the cultural sector. She began her career as a creative producer and DJ, quickly evolving into a respected music programmer known for spotlighting hidden musical gems on leading stages across the Netherlands. In the 2010s, she took on the role of artistic and general director of the Amsterdam Roots Festival. Under her leadership, the festival transformed from a music-focused event into a dynamic, multidisciplinary platform with an (inter)national program centered on roots and cultural identity.
Danka is deeply committed to fostering inclusivity in the arts—ensuring broad access to culture while creating safe, supportive spaces for artists from diverse backgrounds. Since 2020, she has shared her expertise as chair of the Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals, and she is a valued jury member (e.g. Womex 2024) and advisor to various cultural funding bodies.
