A British-Tamil guitarist, songwriter, and multidisciplinary artist, Kapil Seshasayee occupies a distinctive space between South Asian classical music, electronic music, UK garage, and experimental art. Drawing on Carnatic ornamentation, he transforms the electric guitar into a distinctly South Asian melodic voice, weaving improvisation and intricate guitar work into contemporary electronic and alternative sounds. His critically acclaimed albums A Sacred Bore and Laal explore caste, nationalism, censorship, queer representation, and cultural identity, challenging conventional ideas of what South Asian music can sound like. Having performed at SXSW, Latitude Festival, The Roundhouse, and Dialled In Festival, Kapil continues to push the boundaries of contemporary South Asian expression through his forward-looking Desifuturist vision.
